Semiotics
Icon, index and symbol is where ever a sign belongs to one category or is pending on the nature of its relationship between the sign it self which reflects the actual meaning. For example a sign showing fire illustrates an actual fire and it has relationship between the object as they have something in common.
Postmodernism
Postmodernism is the idea that all claims about the truth are fundamentally rooted in certain agendas, biases, power structures or institutions. This means all clamis about the truth are suspect, not the idea that there is an objective truth. In other words, the idea that we can know is doubted, rather than the idea that there is something to know.
Realism
realism is very important in media because you have to show the right life style that the audience come across with. Also you can take this into another part of the audience view, the audience may not want to just see reality in life they might want to fill as if they are apart in the film, picture or the game they are watching or playing. for example Avatar and Call of Duty. I think the movie Avatar is on of the best example of realism because the characters looks so real the audience automatically thinks can there be anything like the Avatar in real life
Modernism
Modernism is a theological way of life to keep up with the present time. Machinery invention led to a new life style coming because people start using technology and keep up with present technology. Decades ago households had chimneys and used burning wood & coal for heating but in the 21st century households have radiators. When we go back we could see the world has transformed it self culturally, politically and scientifically. changing the way of a original object to a modernistic way of design also is modernism.
Intertextuality
Intertextuality is when a viewer identifies similarities between a current scene and a previous scene from another movie. For example an episode of Family Guy is based on the movie Star Wars through similar characters. Each character in Family Guy takes a role of a character in Star Wars. Also, similar scenes are copied from Star Wars into Family Guy by portraying the characters in similar scenes and through outfits so the viewer can automatically identify the character played.
