Intertextuality

Intertextuality is when a viewer identifies similarities between a current scene and a previous scene from another movie. For example an episode of Family Guy is based on the movie Star Wars through similar characters. Each character in Family Guy takes a role of a character in Star Wars. Also, similar scenes are copied from Star Wars into Family Guy by portraying the characters in similar scenes and through outfits so the viewer can automatically identify the character played.
